flOw

Did you notice how often game makers mess with capitalization? It's like changing how the letter looks changes how the game feels. flOw is no exception.

flOw is an oddly peaceful game. There's no time limit; no health bar; not even a scoring system. No menu means that you have no instructions: flOw is a game of discovery. That means I can;t tell you much without giving anything away. You play as an underwater organism. Your goal is to get as deep in the ocean as possible. I don't know if you can win, but so far I haven't hit bottom. Any PS3 owners might recognize the fact that flOw was recently released on the Playstation Network.

Twitter

So yeah... I got a Twitter. Finally. Every body's been raving about it and all so I figured I'd see what it is. It's surprisingly simple.

You have 140 letters. 1-4-0. In that amount, you say what you're doing. Right now. Well, you don't have to say EVERYTHING you do... just the important stuff. Then, all your friends see this. And you can check out what they're doing. It's basically just to keep you and your friends (or the rest of the world) up to date on what you're doing.

Real world example time: Let's say you're at the Freehold Mall. You update your Twitter status saying that you are. It sends a text to your friend, who then realizes that he/she is at the mall too. Now you can hook up and have it a lot less boring.

But here's the problem- I don't know a single person who actually has twitter. I think it'll catch on pretty fast, so spread the word. And if you're too lazy to get an account but still wanna know what's up in my world, here's a live feed from my account. I've added it to the right above the counter.

Tipping Point Chapter 4

If you haven't read my rant about My favorite game ever, Tipping Point, go here. http://brb5minutes.blogspot.com/2008/09/tipping-point.html
For everyone who HAS played the first three chapters, You'll be overjoyed to reliaze that Chapter 4 has finally been released. I can't give out much to the storyline. but it pretty much picks up where the last left off. You come out of the clearing and are at first greeted by an eerie-looking shack.
Here's my criticizim, as well as that of many other fans of the game. Peolpe, including me, were able to use "Brute Force" tactics in order to finish. This simply means you guess untill you get the right answer. This is the correct way to solve many puzzles, but even I personally feel unsatisfied. I missed the "Ah-HAH!" moment that you get when you actually figure the puzzle out. And that kind of thing is fine for one of the puzzles, but in this game it happened to me at least three times.
Does that mean to you, 'Don't go out and play it'? OF COURSE NOT! The visuals and sounds alone make up for that small issue. The story may be alittle dry, but it's progressing. ONCE AGAIN: If you HAVEN'T played the first three chapters, go do that right now. The story won't make any sence to you.
What the heck are you waiing for???
(Once again, I'm happy to take all of your help in the comments.)

Avalanche

(Let me start off by saying, this is one of my absolute favorite games of all time. Well, of the short and sweet ones anyway. I have spent all this time from the start of the school year searching for a site that has this game, unblocked. Finally the other day in history the kid next to me was playing it. I flipped out. Now I'm addicted all over again.)
Ever get the feeling that you are a marshmallow? Haven't we all? I can't claim that you play as a marshmallow in this game. It's just a guess. In fact, No one is really sure what anything in this game is... The best way to sum it up is by using the following generic statement:
In Avalanche, you play as a white rectangle that must climb falling squares to avoid a red liquid.

Your goal is to go up. As high as possible. You must climb on top of square blocks that are falling from the sky. But be careful: If they crush you, you lose. You can also get trapped by them, with nowhere to go but to wait to down in the rising liquid. It actually pays sometimes to be one step ahead of the game and climb on blocks that haven't landed yet. Another tip: Once you walk off the right side of the screen, you appear on the left and vice-versa. Once you actually do loose, you can see a picture on the lefthand side of the screen showing the tower of blocks you just climbed. Awesome.
Up/ Jump
Left & Right/ Move side to side
Up while on the edge of a block/ Wall Jump

N+

N+ is a fun little physics based platformer where you play as a ninja. Your goal is to find the switch to a leval door and escape within the time limit. 'Gold" are litle squares aroung the level that give you points and more time. N+ was recently made into a DS and PSP game, but if you want to try before you buy, there's no better option.

Trainer Light Saber Challenge

There's one reason that I like playing mouse games on the Laptop: Using the Stylus offers an experience you just can't get from a regular mouse. That's one of the reasons that I like Trainer Light Saber Challenge. Even if you don't like Star Wars, this game is fun enough to keep your attention. You're one simple goal is to hit lasers back at the robots where they came from. But the varity of Robots and colors combined with the fun of making sword motions with your hand over the touch screen make this game a winner.

Back

Third one's the charm...

Back
Back

Back off…
The words ring in my ears
Burn in my eyes
And cut through my soul

I need to listen to me…
Who else have you ever?
Surely not me
Nor anyone else

I do care…
I have never heard words
That I felt less true
Who are you kidding?

You’re making everything so difficult…
Look through my eyes
You’d feel the same way
But with both worlds flipped

I’m a little busy right now…
Too busy for me?
I was never busy for you
Hours are gone forever

Explain…
I did
And again
What makes now different?

To make everyone happy…
With an exception
What about me?
Everyone minus me

I am helping 5 friends…
Who are you, me?
I warn these five
Advice taken with caution

They helped me more than you…
You say that for one reason
You’re blind to what I’ve done
I've given you 5’s advice & attention

Back off…
I promised you I’d be there
I’d be your friend
I’d be when you’d need me
You don’t want me now
But I’ll wait ‘till the day
When the blind can all see
Waiting

Waiting…

?

I honestly don't know hom many of you care what's going on to me right now. But I wrote another poem.
?
My birthday; party, really
You tell me you can't
I could see through you
I ask why you lied
You’re too stressed
I tell you how I feel
How I need your help
You’re too busy helping others

Who?

5 of them
“They helped me more than you”
If only they knew
You stab me once more
I kneel down
“What do you want from me?”

What?

You’re doing your best…
At what? Hurting me?
You blame it on stress
But the pain’s nothing new
It’s been there since the start of time

When?

I helped you then
I get hurt now
You don’t forget all that happened
You reject it took place
I lie down on the ground
You crush me with your sole
Think back to where I said it…

Where?

“ I promise I’ll stay your friend
I’ll always be there for you
When you need me.”
Why didn’t I make you promise the same?
I cry; I fall; You watch
Then you finally push me off the cliff

“Because it’s time for me to start listening to me and not you.”

Why?

Why…

There

(Don't get all excited... It's not a game... I just don't have the right banner yet.)

But yeah. Anything at all can be posted in this website. I don't consider myself a poet... But I got really mad/upset the other day and I wrote this. And I had to publish it somewhere.

There
By Richie

You liked him
You wanted him
He wanted you
You needed someone to help you both.
I gave you him

I was there for you

You stumbled
You reached out your hand
I tried to grab you; I pulled you back up
You didn’t take notice
You scratched me

I was there for you

You tripped
You needed help getting up
I offered you a bandage
You pretended to take it
But threw it away
You chipped me

I was there for you

You fell
You were hurt
I was there; I picked you up
You didn’t notice
You got up and walked away
You cracked me

I was there for you

You were confused
I showed you the right way
You took the left
You were wrong
I tried to show you your mistake
You didn’t care
You just pretended to
You broke me

I was there for you

You were ignorant
I did my best to help you
But you blew it all away
I poured my heart into your glass
But you tipped it over
I wanted to help
I wouldn’t give up
You shattered me

I was there for you

I was depressed
You hurt me; crushed me
I told you
You didn’t see
You didn’t look
You never saw
You never looked
You destroyed me

Where are you?

Abominable Snow Maze

Yes, another text. I gotta see if the scripts are blocked from Fizzy games, not just the site itself.

Don't get excited... It's just a maze game thing. Hey, I said it was just a test... And no... they all won't be this small. It was either this or have half the game, including the play button, cut off.

EDIT: Yeah... that's not working out...it's blocked. But one thing about me is that I don't give up that easily.

Fizzy Games

(Yeah I know, a news banner. You never see any of these.)

Anyway. I found this webstie called Fizzy games. They mainly offer downloadable games, and games you can buy. They are also a host for many free online games. Some of them have even been posted here already (Missile Game 3D). So, why am I telling you this?

Well they have an affiliate program. Well what does that mean? It means this: They gave me a game to post here on our blog. You see a short ad for their website every time you play one of their games. Every time you click to go to their website, they pay me. Every time you buy one of their games, I get a commission on their sales.

Sounds way too good to be true. And I don't even know if they're blocked on the school servers. I'm gonna check in on them though to see if they're the real deal.

Speaking of deals, here's the deal with you guys. Every time you play one of their games you click on the link to their webpage. Close it out if you want to, I don't care. It takes seconds. It's much to ask from the people (plus me) that will be able to provide you with hundreds of games.

I'll keep you posted on all of this.

Someone Keeps Stealing My Letters

I'm a big fan of webtoys that offer alot of freedom. I'm even a bigger fan of multiplayer ones. In comes Someone Keeps Stealing My Letters. At first Appearence, it's just a white background with fridge-magnet like letters that you can move. The catch: Other people are in the same room with you moving the same letters. They can mess you up, you can mess them up. Do whatever you want. Have fun!

Play- Server1 Server2 Server3
Set up times with people in different classes to meet in the same room and "chat".

EDIT: It seems that they have a similar game on the site, but with drawing instead of letters. Check it out too.

I'm running a bunch of tests to look into the best ways to get alternate links of blocked games without the use of a proxy, so bear with me... In the meantime, enjoy the sucess of my latest test, Mk5. Piliot a little helicopter robot around with the arrow keys while trying to collect capsules and aviod lasers.

Pacman: The Movie

You've never herd the ghosts' side of the story, have you?

Missile Game 3D

I know that most of you like speed. Games where you for some reason are barrelling uncontrollably tword some goal with indestructible obstacles in your way. Now let's take that idea to a whole nother dimension.

Missile Game 3D

Put simply: You're a missile in a 3D tunnel, And must use the mouse to fly through barriers and not get hit. That's it- No flashing colors, no amazingly rendered charades. You don't even see yourself: Just what's in front of you. And sometimes for a great game that's all you need.

Tipping Point

Now in my mind there are two types of games. The first you know well: Short and sweet. Ex. Cubefield. Easy to learn, not very much thought to play, and sessions rarly last over 5 minutes. But not many people are aware of some of the best games out there: Games that involve thought and time. Maybe not as great to play while ignoring that lecture, but when you have time to kill after doing your homework. As my example of our first 'Take your Time" game, I'm reviewing my absolute favorite online game: Tipping Point.

Tipping point is a "Point and Click" game. It uses only the mouse to solve puzzles. Usually point and click games have an inventory where you gather items to help you progress. Often, these games are "escape the room" style, where your ultimate goal is to... well, escae a room. This game is the opposite though. It's split into three chapters, with more to come. Point and click games arn't known for their stroyline, yet this has an amazing one. And it all starts with you lazily watching TV.

Tipping Point can be frusterating. So, here you go: a walkthrough. Just in case you get stuck. (By the way, the walkthrough for Ch. 3 was written by me :P) If you get stuck, I would rather have you look at the walkthrough than just quit. (If you get REALLY stuck and need one-on-one help, ask in the comments. I'd be glad to help) The breathtaking visuals and sounds that begin in the 2nd and 3rd chapters are well worth the work. It's a new game experience that many haven't had before, but it'll hook you just like it did to me and my friends. It's difficult to explian in writing, so just go check it out now. You'll be glad you did.

Powder Game

When you're bored in class, you probably do one of a few things. 1. Play a game, 2. Draw on the tablet, or 3. [Fill in whatever else you do here]. Now, what would you do if I told you that you could do 1 and 2 at the same time? AND if you could make things explode?

I don't consider this a game by any means. The only goal is to do whatever you want. Absolute freedom. (Well, except it can't get you out of class) The controls are simple: Use the mouse, or styli us if you're using the touch-screen, to select an element. then click on the "play area" to drop that element. You can adjust the size of how much you drop at a time. Now HERE'S the fun part: Watch how the elements react with each other. Put a seed in some water and watch it grow into a tree. Drop a few superballs on the ground and watch them bounce back. And don't get me started on how many things there are to set up in flames.

Now, Powder Game is a game of exploration, so I won't ruin all the fun. Just get out there and start mixing things up. The best part is, it never gets old or boring. You'll always have a new idea to try out. A recent update added a whole nother dimension to the gameplay. Drop a "Player" onto the field and control him with the arrow keys. The possibilities are literally endless.

Play- http://dan-ball.jp/en/javagame/dust/
EDIT: Against my prediction, the site is blocked. Here's a copy version, although not as nice, that you can play with untill I find the real thing on an alternate server.

Blue Ball Machine

I don't know how many of you have seen the original "Blue Ball Machine" YTMND, so here you go: http://blueballfixed.ytmnd.com/

Pretty complex, huh? Now imagine trying to understand all that if you were blind. And if you had this guy explaining it to you.

Some Radom Game Links

Well, almost everyone now knows cubefield (even though I found it 2 years ago), but there are some others out there too. These are just a few games are easy to learn, hard to master, and are pretty short per-play, but make you come back for more.

Cubefield- http://cube.floccul.us/
Yes, the one and only origional cubefield.

Vector Runner- http://www.eskimo.com/games/vectorrunner/
Along the same lines of cubefield, avoid the stuff coming at you while in a simple triangle shape car/ship thing. I actually like this one better than cubefield. Powerups, shields, and it goes ALOT faster.

Gravity Hook- http://adamatomic.com/gravity/
MY favorite of them all. A mouse game, not the arrow keys. Grab on for your life; don't fall but don't hang too long! The goal- Get as high as you can without blowing up.

BTW, send me in your highest scores with proof, and I might just post them here. Have fun!
